Hi D4ers … your DMD here.

On behalf of D4 Governors Susan Dickson and Dean Faithfull, and the entire PacKIN the Passion team, we’re excited to announce the recipient of the District 4 Kin-of-the-Month award for March – Val Mitchell of the Fort Edmonton Kin club.

In only her first year as a member of Kin, Val has shown that she has a big heart and belongs in Kin where she can excel at serving her community. She’s a recent Kin College graduate and already the club Secretary, which is a great position if you want to quickly learn about your club and Kin.

Val can be seen at nearly all the service day projects that the club puts on, including those at the Edmonton Food Bank, which is very near and dear to her heart. Val even volunteers at the Food Bank on her own time – talk about Serving the Community’s Greatest Need. We can’t wait to see what more Val does within Kin.

As part of the Kin-of-the-Month award, the recipient receives a $500 donation made in their name to the charity of their choice. Not surprisingly, Val has chosen the Edmonton Food Bank as her charity of choice.

CONGRATULATIONS Val!

Honourable mentions go out to: Walter Jones of Rocky Mountain House Kinsmen for the countless hours he gives up to help with club fundraisers and events, Nicole Nugent of the Medicine Hat Kinettes for being a super hero and saving lives through the countless blood donations she makes, and to Steve Oliver of the Dawson Creek Kinsmen for his leadership and mentorship within his community, his club and with other Kin clubs.

THANK YOU all for what you do!

Kin of the Month – February

Hi D4ers … your DMD here.
On behalf of D4 Governors Susan Dickson and Dean Faithfull, and the entire PacKIN the Passion team, we’re excited to announce the recipient of the District 4 Kin-of-the-Month award for February – Jess Cotton of the Fort St John Kin club.
In just a year and a half as a member of Kin, Jess has quickly shown her community and our Kin family just how committed she is to Serving the Community’s Greatest Need. It’s not always easy being or feeling a part of the larger Kin family when you’re up in northeastern BC, but Jess hasn’t let that stop her. Not only has she stepped up to fill a VP vacancy in her club, she also leads projects AND has gotten engaged outside her club at the Zone and District level. We’re all grateful for her ambition and can’t wait to see her grow in her Kin journey.
As part of the Kin-of-the-Month award, the recipient receives a $500 donation made in their name to the charity of their choice. Jess has a group in mind that is very special to her, and we’re just working through some logistics before we can announce it.
CONGRATULATIONS Jess!
A special honourable mention goes out to all those individuals and clubs who participated in the National Day of KINdness in February, which helps us celebrate our Founder’s Day of February 20th. Congratulations everyone and THANK YOU for what you do!

Hi D4ers … your DMD here yet again. Sorry to interrupt your Super Bowl viewing, but this is REALLY important.

On behalf of D4 Governors Susan Dickson and Dean Faithfull, and the entire PacKIN the Passion team, we’re excited to announce the recipient of the District 4 Kin-of-the-Month award for January – Hillary Derksen of the Lethbridge Kinettes.

It was only a few months ago that Hillary graduated from Kin Kollege, and at that time, it was clear that Lethbridge Kinettes had something special in this member. Her desire to help her community and her interest in personal growth, have driven Hillary to make an immediate impact in her young Kin career by stepping up to be club Membership Director, Director of their Kin Kids group, and if that wasn’t enough, she’s Chairing their Ladies Night Out fundraiser. No question, Hillary is ambitious, and the sky is the limit for her personally, professionally, and within Kin.

As part of the Kin-of-the-Month award, the recipient receives a $500 donation made in their name to the charity of their choice. Hillary has chosen the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lethbridge as her charity recipient. The Calgary City Family of Kin is January’s club sponsor and will be making a $500 donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters in Hillary’s name.

CONGRATULATIONS Hillary!

A special honourable mention goes out to Kinsmen and Kinette clubs of Stettler, for hosting an awesome District 4 Curling event. Lots of fun and fellowship had by all.

Congratulations everyone and THANK YOU for what you do!

Hi D4ers … your DMD here.

Happy New Year!!

What a better way to kick off 2017 than to announce another Kin-of-the-Month winner. On behalf of D4 Governors Susan Dickson and Dean Faithfull, and the entire PacKIN the Passion team, we’re excited to announce the recipient of the District 4 Kin-of-the-Month award for December – Joe Michielsen of the Kinsmen Club of Coaldale.

Even though he’s retired and has just a mere 32 years of Kin experience under his belt, Joe is still a very active and contributing member of the Coaldale Kinsmen. Joe prefers to stay out of the lime light and takes great pride in providing mentorship for the younger members, and seeing them shine and develop their own Kin career. Yet whenever a hand is needed, you just need to give Joe a call and he’ll be there. He is also the club’s Canadian Blood Services representative and the Goodwill Chair.

As part of the Kin-of-the-Month award, the recipient receives a $500 donation made in their name to the charity of their choice. Joe has a very personal attachment to our national cause, Cystic Fibrosis, and has chosen Cystic Fibrosis Canada as his charity. The Stampede City Family of Kin is December’s club sponsor and will be making a $500 donation to CF in Joe’s name.
CONGRATULATIONS Joe!

Honourable mention goes out to Tricia Mitchell of the Coaldale Kinettes. From leading several projects to organizing the playground build fundraising, Tricia is always their to support her club, her fellow members and the community of Coaldale.

Hi D4ers … your DMD here again!

Robin is a very active Kinette within her club, organizing several projects and fundraisers (because that’s what she likes to do!) and constantly leveraging her 12 years of Kin to help mentor newer members. She’s the epitome of what Kin is about with her always positive and inspiring attitude and outlook on life. She also manages this while she cares for her terminally ill husband Terry (https://www.gofundme.com/2p86ucs?ssid=824616558&pos=1).

As part of the Kin-of-the-Month award, the recipient will have a $500 donation made in their name to the charity of their choice. Robin has chosen Rowan House Emergency Shelter (http://www.rowanhouse.ca) in High River. The Calgary Family of Kin is November’s club sponsor and will be making a $500 donation to this great organization in Robin’s name.

CONGRATULATIONS Robin!

Honourable mentions go out to: Noah Palaschuk (Kin Campus Club of Calgary) for her energy and leadership as President of her club at such a young age, and driving club growth and service projects; Shawna Desjardins (Milk River), also President of her club, for demonstrating what it means to be in Kin to newer members by involving them in inter clubs and education, and for balancing the life of a busy new mom with Kin.

Congratulations everyone and THANK YOU for what you do!
